14 injured as Pakistanis, Albanians clash at German refugee camp

BERLIN: A fight broke out at around mid-day during mealtime following an argument between a youth and an elderly resident at a refugee camp near the central German city of Kassel on Sunday, German news agency DPA reported.

The clashes eventually involved two large groups of Albanian and Pakistani refugees and lasted “several hours”, DPA quoted the police as saying. A total of 14 people were injured, including three policemen.

The camp, which is situated the suburbs of the city, is made up of tents that house around 1,500 migrants hailing from around 20 different countries, including Syria, Albania and Pakistan.

In the evening, another clash erupted, pitting a group of around 70 refugees against another group of about 300. Police eventually restored order after several hours, but made no arrests.
