Pakistani feature film Lamha (Seedlings) — which has received widespread acclaim and recognition at different film festivals — was screened at the closing night of Delhi International Film Festival 2012 (DIFF) on Thursday night.

The film had earlier bagged the Best Picture (Audience Choice) Award at the New York City International Film Festival with Aamina Sheikh being crowned as the Best Actress in a Leading Role. But this was not the and for Lamha. It continued to travel across the globe with its screening at the South Asian Film Festival and now DIFF.

The producer of the film from Bodhicitta Film Works, Meher Jaffri, says: “It’s a huge honour to have the DIFF screen Lamha as their closing night film. And that too on the occasion of 100 years of Delhi as Capital of India and 100 years of Indian cinema.”

She further hopes that with this cooperation, “the thinning of artificial divides” across the border will continue.

Lamha’s acceptance all over the world and across border gives us brighter hope that the industry at home will come together to support local talent in films,” she adds.
