ISLAMABAD: An air ambulance carrying the Indonesian envoy, who was injured in the Gilgit helicopter crash on Friday, made an emergency landing in India after his condition is said to have become critical.
The Foreign Office said Ambassador Burhan Mohammad, who suffered 75% burns on his body in the crash, was being flown to his country when his condition worsened, Express News reported.
The air ambulance took off from Islamabad at 2pm local time today. The Netherlands ambassador was also flown out to his home country.

The decision to make an emergency landing was taken after communication with the Indonesian and Singapore governments during the flight. Pakistan had sought and arranged the air ambulance from Singapore.

The ambassadors of the Philippines and Norway, the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian envoys and three officers of the Pakistan Army were killed when an MI-17 helicopter went down shortly before landing in Naltar Valley.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recommended to hand over civil gallantry award, Sitar-e-Pakistan for the diplomats killed in the recent Gilgit crash.
